Auf Anfrage der Archäologen führte der GD NRW eine osteoarchäologische Analyse der Nutz- und Wildtiervergesellschaftung von der römischen Kaiserzeit bis ins späte Mittelalter durch. Aus der taxonomisch-numerischen Knochenanalyse konnte die Nutzung der Tiere im Laufe des benannten Zeitraumes geklärt werden. Hieraus lassen sich die damalige wirtschaftliche Bedeutung der verschiedenen Haustierrassen und die ökonomischen Strategien ihrer Besitzer (Schlachten, Essen, Zucht) ablesen.
