Zentrale Erhebungsmerkmale sind das Alter, der Wohnort der Mutter sowie die Staatsangehörigkeit der Eltern, die jährlich erhoben werden. Die Daten werden von den amtlichen Personenstandsregistern bezogen. Räumlich differenziert sind die Daten bis auf die Ebene der kreisangehörigen Städte und Gemeinden.
