Der Datensatz umfasst (Stand 02/2022) 4775 Fahrtrichtungspfeile im Stadtgebiet von Wuppertal, die im Rahmen des NRW-Förderprojektes „bergisch.smart_mobility“ über einen mit dem ETL-Werkzeug FME automatisierten Mustererkennungsprozess im True Orthophoto der Stadt Wuppertal (Bodenauflösung 5 cm) detektiert worden sind. Die Aktualität des Datensatzes ist damit durch das Datum der Befliegung (27.03.2020) bestimmt, aus der die Luftbilder für die Berechnung des True Orthophotos stammen. Der Datensatz ist zwangsläufig unvollständig, da einige Fahrtrichtungspfeile im Orthofoto durch Kraftfahrzeuge verdeckt sind und daher vom Mustererkennungsprozess nicht identifiziert werden können. Dasselbe gilt auch für einige Fahrtrichtungspfeile, die durch Schattenwürfe unkenntlich gemacht werden. Die mangelnde Zuverlässigkeit kann durch Auswertung von Orthofotos mit anderen Befliegungszeitpunkten und Ergänzung der dort zusätzlich erkannten Fahrtrichtungspfeile im aktuellen Datensatz sukzessive verbessert werden. Eine Aussage, wie schnell die Vollständigkeit bei dieser Aktualisierungsstrategie gegen 100% konvergiert, ist noch nicht möglich. Die Aktualisierung soll in dem Turnus von zwei Jahren erfolgen, in dem die Stadt Wuppertal üblicherweise Luftbildbefliegungen ihres Stadtgebietes beauftragt, erstmalig also Mitte 2022. Der im o. g. Projekt entwickelte Mustererkennungs- und Weiterverarbeitungsprozess ist ein effizientes Datenerhebungsverfahren für die Erfassung von Fahrtrichtungspfeilen im Zusammenhang mit dem Aufbau eines digitalen Verkehrszeichenkatasters. Darüber hinaus kann der Datensatz zum Training von Algorithmen aus dem Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz (KI) zur Detektion von Fahrtrichtungspfeilen in Luftbildern verwendet werden. Ein Transfer auf andere Arten von Fahrbahnmarkierungen ist vorstellbar. Der Datensatz umfasst zum einen ein Zip-Archiv mit den georeferenzierten Rasterbildausschnitten (Orthophoto Snippets im Format TIFF mit TIFF World File), in denen Fahrtrichtungspfeile erkannt wurden, zum anderen Vektorrepräsentationen in Punktform (mittig in der Basislinie der Fahrtrichtungspfeile positionierte Fußpunkte) und Flächenform (synthetische Konstruktion der Markierungsfläche anhand der normierten Abmessungen der Verkehrspfeile sowie umschreibende Rechtecke, die mit den Orthophoto Snippets korrespondieren).
